FUE direct implantation
FUE direct implantation is a form of follicular unit extraction (FUE) which involves the use of a specialised device to implant the follicles directly into the skin. It offers fast recovery with virtually imperceptible scarring, giving you the freedom to experiment with shorter hairstyles.
“Very happy with the result and Dr. Raja’s level of service.”
A note from Dr. Raja, hair transplant surgeon
“FUE Direct Hair Implantation is a skilled technique that can be used to deliver high quality, refined results with very little downtime”
What is FUE direct implantation?
In this minimally invasive hair transplant procedure, individual follicles are removed from the back of the head and transplanted into balding areas using an implanter device. It delivers natural-looking results that are indistinguishable from your existing hair.
A member of the surgical team will trim or shave the areas required for the procedure. The surgeon will administer a local anaesthetic to the donor area to ensure you feel no pain or discomfort during your surgery - this will take effect within a few minutes. We can also administer a mild sedative to relax you if you’re anxious about having surgery.
Once the donor area is numb, the surgeon will begin the extraction process, carefully removing follicles under magnification using specialised tools.
After marking the areas where hair will be implanted, your surgeon will administer a local anaesthetic and begin reimplanting the grafts. As the implanter device deploys grafts directly into the scalp, the surgeon doesn’t have to create incisions prior to placement. The surgeon will then carefully inspect the recipient area under magnification to ensure that the grafts have been implanted successfully.
After revisiting the areas where hair will be implanted, your surgeon will begin reimplanting the grafts directly into the scalp. They will then carefully inspect the recipient area under magnification to ensure that the grafts have been implanted successfully.
Follicular unit extraction (FUE) techniques have advanced significantly over the past few years and we find that most of our patients wake up the following day without any pain or discomfort. You should be able to return to your normal routine 7 to 14 days after your FUE direct hair transplant depending on your lifestyle.
Why choose FUE direct implantation surgery?
For those who are eligible for FUE direct implantation surgery, it offers faster recovery time than follicular unit transplantation (FUT) as well as minimal scarring, giving you the flexibility to experiment with shorter hairstyles.
FUE direct implantation is suitable for all types of hair loss, and is ideal for those with moderate hair loss.
FUE direct implantation doesn’t involve stitches so you’ll heal more quickly than with FUT surgery.
The procedure results in virtually no scarring so it’s ideal for patients who wear their hair short.
